Classy without the clutter -  Every detail was considered in this kitchen renovation located in the Boro of Chatham NJ.

The homeowner had a wish list to fill much larger space and then some, so maximizing every square inch of space was to become critical in this makeover. Once the design was settled, it changed, and changed again as we added new feature enhancing and refining all of the details.

Once demolition was underway and after  removing (5) layers of flooring plus (3) layers of ceiling we had some more height in the room, a pleasant surprise that allowed us to increase wall cabinet height and still finish with crown molding to the ceiling.

Kelly had always thought she would have classic painted white cabinetry, subway tile, and a Soapstone counter. She got that and much more, when we took a trip to the stone yard and she got to see the soapstone in person I decided to show her a similar granite, Jet Mist. It didn't take long for her to make a last minute change. The granite has a honed finish and is the exact color she wanted without all of the worry of a softer materiel like soapstone.

In this remodel  inches mattered, the entrance to the dining room was to be as large as possible so we did something not quite typical. We recessed a counter depth refrigerator. 3". A small detail but a huge impact in this space, a 33" opening to a 36" not only feels bigger but frames the view from either room so much better.

A smart niche behind the stove is both a nice focal point and adds function for the chef, bottles within reach makes cooking a breeze. Not sure what is a favorite feature, the list is so long in such a small space.
