S. Orange homeowners choose a custom color; contented, by Benjamin Moore - this kitchen concented to a renovation makeover.

These South Orange NJ homeowners wanted to step back in time and recreate a kitchen in the era the home was built and transport it to today so it would be brand new. We did exactly that...

Once demolition was underway and after  removing (3) layers of flooring plus (5) layers of ceiling we had some more height in the room, and we uncovered that the bathroom built on top of it was modified by the previous homeowner. Structurally unsound we needed to make some repairs before we could begin, we replace floor joist that had been compromised and while we had it open we ran all new plumbing to service the bathroom.

Maureen knew she wanted a green kitchen she knew the color she wanted in her dream kitchen, it wasnt going to be a stock color. We broke out the historical color chips of Benjamin Moore and narrowed it down to two contenders. Sent the colors choices to Starmark to make some sample doors and when they arrived she got to see them in her house. Maureen and Pete said that it was not even a contest the clear winner was "Contented"

With the base color in hand the complimenting colors would fall in place, Australian cypress for the flooring and a cherry island topped with butcher block would be the center piece int his kitchen. We searched high and low to find the perfect countertop, not something you'll find in every kitchen in South Orange we chose Verdi Butterfly in a leather finish. Stunning!

We created a "Command Center" for Maureen where she keeps the busy house in order. A desk you might have found in 1920 but fully outfitted for today's fast paced family, framed to match the cabinetry is a self-healing corkboard, hold all of kids art work, school projects, activities etc. and space for the family calendar and of course the IMAC.

Breakfast bar by day the kids belly up for a healthy start and off to school, transforming to a gathering space for parties in the evenings.

We recreated the (5) piece moldings, sandblasted and painted the radiator, added beadboard stained to match the island making this kitchen ready for years of memories just in time for the holidays!
