Project:

Bathroom Transformation in Millburn NJ

Closet to cozy ensuite retreat

Project Description

This project was all about transforming an underutilized closet cubbie into a serene, private ensuite bathroom. The homeowner sought an escape from the shared kids’ bathroom and envisioned a cozy soaking tub and shower with ample natural light. To achieve this, we introduced a transom window, allowing sunlight to brighten the space while maintaining privacy. The result is a harmonious blend of functionality and relaxation, tailored for a peaceful retreat.

The design prioritizes both comfort and efficient use of space. A pocket door enhances accessibility without compromising square footage, while custom shelving and a built-in niche maximize storage for toiletries and essentials. The cabinetry in a soft, muted blue pairs beautifully with the crisp white finishes, creating a timeless and tranquil aesthetic. Warm wood shelving adds a natural touch, complementing the vintage-inspired elements like the curved mirror and detailed vanity hardware.

The craftsmanship in this project shines through in the selection of materials and attention to detail. White subway tiles with a textured finish provide visual depth, while blue accent tiles in the shower niche introduce a subtle contrast. The floor features classic marble mosaic tile, adding a sophisticated element to the overall design. Fixtures in polished chrome, including a vintage-inspired exposed shower system, further enhance the bathroom’s charm and elegance.

Beyond aesthetics, this transformation successfully integrates practical elements to support everyday luxury. The gold-painted radiator nods to the home’s original character while being refreshed for modern appeal. Thoughtful lighting, both natural and artificial, enhances the bright and airy feel of the space. With every detail meticulously planned and executed, this ensuite bath now serves as a rejuvenating sanctuary for the homeowner, seamlessly blending classic inspiration with modern convenience.
